Where we give the mic to nature and amplify Earth

Hear the Earth You're Missing

Threshold Shift is a collection of field recordings created and contributed by sound professionals, scientists, and student-citizens from across the globe. Why do we record? By many accounts, there is less than 2% of the Earth that is free from human-induced sound and that area is shrinking quickly. It is our hope that this series will increase awareness about acoustic ecology, bioacoustics and sound preservation efforts as well as create room in an otherwise human-crowded media landscape for nature to be listened to and enjoyed.

Every 5th Saturday from 12-3 am. Long form episodes of immersive soundscape goodness.

The original mini-series aired Fridays at 10:00-10:15am from Sept 1- Oct 27, 2017 as a feature of KBOO's 2017 Sound Artist in Residence Program. The subsequent long form program aired from the autumn of 2017 to the autumn of 2020.
