With You on the Journey was a performance of monologues written by family members of people in prison, it included 11 monologues by 10 family members. The performance was the culmination of six writing workshops and was held at The First Unitarian Church of Portland on October 18th, 2015. This project was conceived of and carried out by Carol Imani, a college writing instructor who has taught creative writing in juvenile detention facilities and adult prison. The project was funded by the Regional Arts and Cultural Council. Prison Pipeline is airing a recording of the performance in segments. On June 6th, 2016 the final segment is airing. This segment includes the eleventh monologue, a tribute to a missing member and the participants' final sign off will air. Carol Imani will join host Amy Johnson in studio to talk about With You on the Journey.
The final monologue was written by author of the book Mentoring Boys to Men: Climbing Their Own Mountains, Neal Lemery. This monologue tells of the release day of one of the young men that Neal mentored at Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility.
