Earth Day: The circle of life-- Earth Day renewal

City Repair celebrates Earth Day at PCC's Cascade Campus.

City Repair’s Earth Day Portland 2012 is going to be amazing this year! This free admission event will be from 11 am - 6 pm on Sunday, April 22nd at the PCC - Cascade campus on 705 N. Killingsworth, just blocks from the MAX yellow line and right on the 4 and 72 bus lines.

City Repair is collaborating with the Associated Students of Portland Community College (ASPCC) this year. There will be a Li’l Earthlings’ Village with an interactive area for crafting, playing, story-telling, and learning for youngsters. We are bringing together kid-friendly musicians, child-care providers, artists, circus performers, teachers, and other skill-sharers to create a day-long program. Parents will enjoy the free short-term child-care, which is useful for parents who may wish to visit the Healing Arts Village to receive a massage, acupuncture, or energy work.

There will be great music this year! The main stage will feature some great acts, including Joy Now Project (featuring members of March Fourth), Worlds Finest, Papa Coyote, Belinda Underwood, Golden Beets, and Portland Raging Grannies. The amplified acoustic stage will feature puppetry from Emily Alexander, music from Friends of the Family, and a host of amazing local talent.

Circus Cascadia will be performing right in front of the PCC campus facing Killingsworth ST, adding an air of festiveness to those driving, biking, and walking by. Speaking of biking, we are going to have a bike valet for those who are arriving on two wheels.

There will be a battery recycling station, businesses showing people how to reduce their energy usage, food and goods vendors, master gardeners, a master recycler, and lots of ways to learn about how to co-create a more just and sustainable world. Learn more at http://earthday.cityrepair.org
