Please join us on Monday, August 26th at 6:30 pm for Prison Pipeline on KBOO Community Radio as we talk with reformed skinhead Mitch Highley of Beyond Us and Them about transformative justice and real world impact.
Beyond Us & Them, formerly the Center for Council, is the leading solution-based nonprofit focused on delivering programming rooted in empathy, understanding, and supportive interaction to schools, community-based organizations, and correctional facilities. They seek to disrupt the current divisive nature of our society - which is obsessed with conflict and its complications over finding common ground and forging resolutions - to foster a culture of social connection, engagement, and resilience. Beyond Us & Them addresses social and cultural crises ranging from the loneliness epidemic, police-community relations, and recidivism to your everyday political disagreements at the dinner table.
Beyond Us & Them thinks globally but acts locally with its extensive programming, including its specialization in assisting incarcerated individuals in their journey toward a healthy and productive post-incarceration life. Operating in 29 California state prisons and offering re-entry programming in the Los Angeles area, initiatives have positively impacted thousands of system-impacted individuals and their families.
Prison Pipeline is a radio program dedicated to educating the public about the Oregon criminal justice system. Our goal is to present a unique understanding of the criminal justice system, address the root causes of crime, and challenge the status quo. We seek to promote awareness and activism in order to foster a safe, healthy, and just society. Tune in every Monday at 6:30 P.M. to hear our hosts Karen James, Adam Carpinelli, Emma Lugo, and Doug McVay explore the Oregon justice system with a variety of guests.
