Dmae presents a piece from one of the first personal storytelling series on public radio: Legacies: Tales From America that ran on NPR in 1994. This episode is a 28-minute docu-play Because of You, I Learned to Love produced by Nora Moreno Cargie. In this personal piece, Nora re-creates the courtship of her Mexican father, a Spanish broadcaster in Chicago, and her Puerto Rican mother.

Nora Moreno Cargie, originally went by the name Nora Moreno as a radio producer whose work was heard on NPR and This American Life. In this docu-play, she featured actors from the Latino Theatre Company of Chicago. She now works as the president of the Tufts Health Plan Foundation. In this role, she also serves vice president of corporate citizenship for Tufts Health Plan. Currently, she serves on the Governor's Council to Address Aging in Massachusetts, the board of Grantmakers in Aging, the Executive Forum for Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship and the Elder Stakeholders Group of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
Because of You, I Learned to Love aired in 1994 as part of the 13-part series Legacies: Tales From America produced by Dmae Roberts and MediaRites.
James DePriest, former conductor for the Oregon Symphony hosted this series. He passed in 2013. It was an honor to work with him.
