Preview Portland Youth Philharmonic's 96th season opener with musical director David Hattner

Portland’s changed a lot since 1924, but there’s been at least one constant, besides those rusty downtown drinking fountains  – our own homegrown orchestra, the Portland Youth Philharmonic. PYP will be opening their 96^th season this Saturday, November 9^th, at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. They’ll be performing two pieces by American composers -- George Gershwin’s “Piano Concerto” and Amy Beach’s “Gaelic Symphony” – in addition to Brazilian composer Oscar Lorenzo Fernández’s “Batuque”.
