Local cinema archivists present screenings of rare and risqué films
Hollywood Babylon is the new series of 1930's feature films, produced before the censorious Hays Code, that tackled such timely topics as corruption, prostitution, and drug use. Curated by Chantell Richardson and Dan Halsted, this series screens at the Hollywood Theatre throughout the year. Chantell and Dan join us in the studio to offer the history and background that keeps these films relevant.
And we also welcome back archivist Elliot Lavine. Elliot is curating two separate screening series: Alfred Hitchcock and the Psychology of Suspense at Cinema 21, and the noir-themed I Wake Up Dreaming at the Hollywood Theatre.
