Lance Dawes is best known for his work as a documentary and editorial photographer in the world of skateboarding. Lance began shooting skaters and misfits as a teen, while becoming a sponsored skateboarder for the legendary Dogtown Skateboards. In 1990 he attended film school at University of San Francisco while working as a darkroom technician at Thrasher Magazine. In 1992 Lance founded Slap Magazine, where he was the editor, art director and chief photographer. While instrumental in documenting the San Francisco skate and music scenes of the ‘90s, Lance also traveled the world into the new millennium including Australia, India, Asia, South Africa, Central and South America and Europe.
