In this month's episode we address the topics of solidarity and exclusion. We start off our show with another installment of "Your English Is So Good" where we interview Canaan Schlesinger, who shares what it's like to be exoticized as a hapa (half-Japanese, half-Jewish). Then, we explore the shared history between the Asian/Pacific Islander and African-American communities. In honor of Minoru Yasui Day here in Oregon, we have a segment that discusses the steps that lead to Japanese-Americans being incarcerated during World War II. In our final segment, we talk about the man behind the day, Minoru Yasui, a local civil rights hero who fought for his rights during World War II and was recently award the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Also included, an API events list for those in the Portland area. Special guests: Canaan Schlesinger, Chisao Hata, Peggy Nagae, Scot Nakagawa, Prof. Greg Robinson, Doug Lee, Daniel Hong, and Wendell Britt.
