The 12th Annual Jim Pepper Native Arts Festival will be this Saturday, July 27 at the Columbia Park Annex from 12 to 5 p.m. Later that evening will be a Tribute to John Trudell at the Alberta Abbey, featuring Quiltman, long-time singer with Trudell, and Mark Shark, guitarist with Trudell's band Bad Dog, along with Ojibwe musician Annie Humphrey and Minnesota-based folk musician David Huckfelt
But before those events, Quiltman, Shark, Humphrey and Huckfelt will also be performing on Wednesday, July 24 at the Showdown on SE Powell and 120th Ave., also in Portland. And the next day, Huckfelt and Humphrey will be at Quilt's Coffeehouse in Simnasho on the Warm Springs Reservation for a Tattoo Party and Concert.
To talk about all these events and associated projects, joining host Paul Roland by phone will be Sean Cruz, of the Jim Pepper Native Arts Council and one of the organizers of the Festival on Saturday, along with Humphrey and Huckfelt in the KBOO studio.
