Gillette’s My Perfectly Valid Objections. A feminist comedy about “dating while trans,” Gillette’s play depicts a group of transwomen navigating the minefield of heterosexual dating. The tart, queer comedy lays out all the arguments against love - both during the dates and in the debriefs the women share – while celebrating its irresistible pull.
This site-specific production will take place where so many first dates have: Oblique Coffee Roasters in SE Portland.
Mikki Gillette is a trans woman playwright. Her play The Queers enjoyed a sold out run at Fuse Theatre Ensemble this spring. Her show American Girl will premiere at Fuse in April 2023, and her play Mimetic Desire is scheduled for production by the Pittsburgh Classic Players in spring 2023. Mikki was a member of the Ashland New Plays Festival 2022 New Voices Cohort.
